Memory Care

Cozy, safe and secure, our Memory Care Unit provides a secure surrounding geared towards meeting the complex needs of the dementia or Alzheimer's resident. The Village Health Care Center was the first facility in Missoula to recognize that the dementia- or Alzheimer-diagnosed residents are unique in their needs. Out of this recognition evolved our secure unit. Several years have passed since our first unit opened and we have grown in knowledge and even more awareness of this special population. We provide:

• Staff specifically trained and fiercely loyal to this special unit and to "their" residents
• Activity programs taking into account the short attention span and different interests
• Visual cues to help residents find their way
• Finger foods and snacks to promote nutrition and healthy weight
• Social Workers to be attentive to changing personalities and moods
• A Dietitian to assess changing dietary needs
