From Our Executive DirectorDear Residents and Families, Welcome to Village Health Care Center. I am pleased that you have chosen us to provide your care. As Executive Director, my vision for our community closely parallels our mission statement:
As we become their new home, whether for temporary rehabilitation or long term care, our residents need and deserve a continuation of quality of life, choices, and services. Looking back at my 15 years at the Village Health Care Center, our skilled nursing environment is a much different place than it was even 10 years ago. We now have enhanced dining services, in-house rehabilitation center, larger rooms, modern furnishings and resident spaces, more creative activity programs, pets, new philosophies in end-of-life care, and technology that helps us prevent what used to be common ailments. I think of what we can do in the next ten years to evolve the culture of nursing care. The big picture takes time -- we are changing attitudes, traditions, resources, and structure. But what we can do today to advance care ideas, lifestyle services, and operations of a skilled nursing community will go a long way to setting the standard of care ten years from now. Believe me, I take this personally because I am of the generation whose turn it will be next to receive care. I’m always hungry for new information and I’m constantly assessing the changing needs and demands in nursing care. I see it as my responsibility to read, attend classes, borrow, and implement best practices. If you have an idea or an example that could enhance our residents’ life, please remember that my office door is open! This profession chose me; the residents and staff at Village Health Care Center bring purpose and joy to my life. I am committed to bringing purpose and joy to theirs. Welcome, Kathy Hammond |
